Is urine therapy against the nature? Does it actually help in general health?
I want to know in details about urine therapy & its good as well bad effects. Anyone practising it please guide me.
I have heard that urine is sterile, u can put it in your radiator, it heals jellyfish stings, makes good jelly, soothes a sunburn and tastes good if you eat alot of zinc, but you know…..
Urine is full of toxins that are being flushed out of the body. No it isn't good for you. Why would you even give it a moments thought?

It could do you good as a fertilizer if you are a plant, but there are no medicinal uses in humans. Sorry to disappoint you ! Use your logic how can your own waste do your health any good ?

MANY OF THE COMMENTS HERE ARE FALSE AND UNWARRANTED. PLEASE READ ON…
NO, urine therapy IS nature. It is the natural thing your body was intended to undergo. I’ll keep this brief yet biological.

Texts make a false statement time and time and time again. It is this one: “the kidneys filter waste.” FALSE.
The glomerulus filters excess ingredients and excess fluids, NOT “waste.”
Where the actual waste is fliltered is in the LIVER. The blood, filled with nutrients, goes through the liver, that’s where toxins are removed and eventually leave the body via feces. The only thing that makes its way to the kidneys is a purified form of blood, CLEAN blood. This cleaned blood goes into the kidneys then goes through the nephron tubule system then pressure squeezes it out.
WHAT THE FILTERING PROCESS IN THE KIDNEYS DOES IS
1) REMOVE EXCESS WATER, AND
2) THE INGREDIENTS THE BODY DOESN’T NEED AT THE MOMENT.
The excess water and ingredients become the urine. The nephron then reabsorbs some of the ingredients and those go into the bloodstream, but the remainder, which you will still need in following moments, goes out from the kidneys into the bladder and we piss it out.
MISTAKE: we flush these ingredients, yet we will still need them.
[The kidneys keep the elements in your blood balanced AT THE MOMENT IN TIME. The ingredients you don't need at that moment become urine. These elements are supposed to be cycled back through the body because you will still need them in following moments.]
As an open minded MD I find this topic very fascinating. Theraputic ingestion of urine has been around forever and in fact MD’s used to taste the urine of their patients up until around the 1960’s in order to look for uncontrolled diabetes. I have also heard of people surviving without food or water by ingesting their urine. Does anyone know if there are instances in the animal community where urine is ingested?
I just started using urine therapy topically on my face for cystic acne and it is amazing. My face is clearing so quickly and it has only been two days. I am thinking of using urine therapy internally but I am not able to bring myself to that point yet.
Hi Tamara,
It’s nuts, isn’t it? I mean, the results speak for themselves. Who cares what brings them? I tried urine topically first as well. I think most western folks do that, because the concept of urine as medicine is so foreign to us. It still blows my mind. Now, for certain thinkers, it may not logically follow that if something is good for you on the outside (on the skin), then it is also good for you when you ingest it. But, people who ingest urine also report phenomenal results. My take is that urine gives you an immediate gift, then you reach a plateau or a healing crisis. At that point, many people stop, not recognizing that they are undergoing a cleansing process. For me, because I had read that people stop too soon and thereby don’t experience full benefits, I kept going.
Best wishes to you, maybe you’ll participate in our online urine therapy symposium June 26-28 2009.
Best,
Dainis
There are some videos on YouTube, but I am not sure if those can really be used as “evidence.” We’re hosting an online urine therapy symposium June 26-28, and your participation would be most welcome.
Best,
Dainis
I just started UT two days ago, but without following any specific directions, at least not yet. Just drinking urine (perhaps more than new people to UT are suppose to) in the morning and applying it to my skin. I have eczema and since I started applying urine just two days ago, the dry patches have almost fully disappeared. I’m not so sure how I feel about the drinking of my urine, because so far, I hate the taste so far. But I’m going to keep trying and also get some books so that I can do more studying about the subject. It is very interesting to know that drinking urine is not new to humans. Once I had to pee in a container because we were at a place that didn’t have toilets and I didn’t want to go out at night. I mentioned to a relative of mine how gross it was. He said to me “that’s not gross. I’m gonna drink it”. He was kidding about drinking MY urine, but he wasn’t kidding about the concept of drinking urine because in my family’s country, people do sometimes drink urine for different reasons and I know for fact that he has drank urine because he had told me stories before about how he and a group of people drank their urine as they traveled through the desert in Sudan. And this morning my cousin asked me why I was hiding while I was getting ready. I told her it was because I didn’t want her to know I was putting urine on my dry skin. She told me it was good for me to do this and also told me that when she was a soldier back home, they would urinate on cuts and wounds, especially if they couldn’t get to a hospital quickly. I know that just because something has been practiced since ancient times doesn’t make it right, but just because it was practiced in ancient times doesn’t automatically make it wrong either. After the healing I’m already seeing with my skin, I know that there is something special to be acknowledged about Urine Therapy.
Wonderful story, Leah, thank you for participating here!
It’s funny, I “revealed” that I practice urine therapy to a Russian woman the other day and she immediately said “oh, it’s very popular in Russia.” Umm…did she say “very popular?” I heard it right. It’s very good that you are combining internal and external use, as that is surely a part of the reason why you are achieving such wonderful results. UT tends to give people a “gift” right in the beginning. It can be clearer skin, rashes gone, but sometimes, for example someone with acne will notice only slight improvement in the acne (at first), and just start feeling great. Or they’ll feel sick the next time they eat a food that causes their acne (they might even vomit). It just depends on who you are and how you are and what will “teach” you the best. It really is like you are dealing with an intelligence that is lovingly teaching you in a personalized way…the best way it possibly can. Best to you!
Dainis, or anyone else, I notice a lot of people are talking about UT in a spiritual way. I was mainly thinking of it in a physical way. Like, how will my body react to my use of urine? How will my use of urine help to keep me healthy? But on the other hand, I know that mind/spirituality and body/physical are interconnected. I know that from many different experiences. But I don’t understand the spiritual aspect of using my own urine for my well-being. Can you either explain a little or tell me where to learn more about that? I’m usually good at grasping spiritual concepts, but I’m having trouble with this one. And by the way, the first day I drank my urine (3 days ago now), I was felt slightly nauseated the whole day and my intestines felt like they were spinning circles. Maybe that’s because I literally drank half a tall glass which was alot. Since then I’ve been drinking a lot less. About and 1/8 glass full and I my tummy has been okay, although I’d like to eventually drink a larger quantity again if possible. Anyways, that first day, I said it tasted gross to me. But since then, i’ve realized that I can tolerate the taste and it hasn’t even tasted as bad. It’s not so bad. And it could probably be even better if I’m always careful about what I consume.
Leah, definitely watch the interview with Sudarshan Dheer here at this site. We talked a lot about the spiritual aspect of UT. Regarding the quantity you are choosing to drink, hey, my best advice is to just be comfortable and listen to your body. The churning may be gross stuff getting ready to come out, so if your experience is anything like mine: get ready for some really really NASTY pooping. I mean, UGH! For me, it was like “holy crap!” That stuff was IN ME? UGH YUCK, GROSS, I CAN’T STAND IT NASTY GIVE ME MORE UT PLEASE, GET THIS NASTY STUFF OUT OF ME!!!
Yup, that was my experience!
Ha ha!
Leah, you’re only 3 days in…your questions are good and natural. I suggest you read more about UT as well.
I will take a stab at the spiritual side. Here goes:
When you drink urine, you get in touch with your immune system, and you feel “it” doing things. You start gaining “sense” over what to eat and what not to eat, because your urine “gives” you “information” about what is good for you and what is bad for you.
Spiritual side: but where does that information come from?
Sure, you are “talking with” your immune system, but the “conversation” feels like much more than just a mechanical immune response.
For me, UT feels like drinking sunshine. How is that possible?
Spiritual side: how can there be “sunshine” in my urine? What do I mean by “sunshine” in my urine? How can I explain the feeling? I can’t really, it’s like explaining love. Can you explain love?
Now, then comes a deeper connection with others. I don’t know if this happens normally for people who practice UT, but my experience has been that people who practice UT are just healthier, more positive, and a whole lot kinder than people who do not.
Spiritual side: what is kindness? How does UT link people up with kindness?
I guess, for me, the “vastness” of the information received by practicing UT is cosmic. How can I sense so much “expanse” from drinking urine? Does it just make me “high?” And how on earth can urine make me “high” when I eat a raw-centered vegetarian diet?
Spiritual side: where does vastness come from?
When I look “within” now, it’s much more “empty,” and I actually do float a lot higher in the water, though my weight isn’t much different.
Scientific: How can I feel more empty, float higher in the water, but weigh pretty much the same?
Spiritual side: Many people report feeling very peaceful when they consider themselves “connected with God.” When I practice urine therapy, I feel a similar connectedness, and it is not an “isolated connectedness,” I feel more connected, more centered, more joyful, and more peaceful. This is like a “pull towards virtues,” and “virtuousness” is intimately intertwined with spirituality.
Best to you, and remember, it is your path, not mine, that you are following. Listen to your instincts to your body, and learn from your connection. I hope to read what you think the spiritual side of UT is…for you…sometime soon.
Thank you so much Dainis, for what you wrote in response to my question about the spirituality of UT. I’m going to read it several more times because i think it’s deep and I want to really think about it as you describe it from your experience. I really appreciate your explanation. I will also watch the interview with Sudarshan Dheer here at this site. And sometime in the future, I absolutely will write about what I think the spiritual side of UT is.
It’s funny how you said that when you first started UT, all this nasty poop came out and you were like “give me more UT please”. That is exactly how I felt that first day. I had drank what seemed like a lot of urine to me and and that same day my intestines were so active and I pooped a lot of gross stuff out many times. I was like, “Where is all this stuff coming from”. I felt like I had the flu as well. I knew it was because of the urine and I knew it was doing something good for me, although I felt sorry for the lady who went into the public restroom stall after me. I said to myself, “wow, give me more UT please”. And since that day, I haven’t felt “flu-ish”. I did tell how my skin is really clearing up. But another amazing “gift” I’ve received is sleep. For the past month at least, I have not been able to sleep well. I had trouble falling asleep and the slightest sound would wake me up at 3 or 4am and after that, I wouldn’t be able to fall asleep for the rest of the night. It was torture and it was affecting my school studies. But since the first day that I started drinking my urine, which is four days back now, I have literally slept like a baby every night. Little sounds have not woken me up and I wake up in the morning refreshed and energized. I swear, this is the first time in weeks that I’ve had real sleep. The only thing I’ve been doing differently is drinking my urine in the morning. So the gifts I have received are my dry skin is becoming normal, I had a good bowel cleanse, and I’ve been sleeping very deeply. Also, I can see that I’m not craving or as easily tempted by unhealthy food. I’m new to this so all this has been happening over just a few days. I like it.
I’ve been actively doing urine therapy for 3 weeks, and I notice I am sleeping more soundly. I am in the process of healing an almost lifelong candida & fungal systemic infection. I tried supplements, raw diets, still no full healing. Please Let me hear from gals that have completely healed candida infection with urine therapy, and any tips would be greatly appreciated as I am new to this wonderful practice for health. Thanks! Patti
This is most interesting. I am a lab tech and get a close look at many peoples urine. It is true, urine in the filtered liquid part of the blood (plasma) and it is sterile as long as you do not have a bladder infection. So the truth of the matter is you, at some point have probably stuck one of your fingers with a cut in it into your mouth, thereby ingesting unfilter urine. Makes for a most interestn point of view, doesn’t it! And, it may contain proteins, but protien in urine is a sign of illness. But that doesn’t mean that trace amounts are not present normally. What interests me most is the worm the host of this site states he passed. I beleive these creaters are the cause of many miss diagnosis of people with general malase, and a host of minor irritating other symptoms.
